Snowflake Tutorial

I was surprised at how many people did not know how to make snowflakes! Most of the ones I've seen around just look like squares. Here's how to do them!

Go from this:

To this:

This is a really simple one that was done in about 2 minutes with little kid scissors, but you can make it as complicated or simple as you want. Just make sure you do cleaner cuts and make your folds sharp. Here's how:

1. Start by folding a square piece of paper diagonally twice.

2. Fold the right side to the middle.

3. Fold the left side over to overlap the right side. Cut at the line.

4. Draw a pattern and cut it out.

5. Unfold and voila! You have your snowflake.

This type of snowflake it usually really hard for younger kids to cut due to the thickness of the folded paper. However, if you do the same folds with tracing paper or coffee filters, younger kids can make some awesome looking snow flakes too. It's always fun to see their reactions when they unfold it.
