10 Spy Bottles Ideas

1. Green Palm Tree Bottle

I filled half the bottle with rice and snowflake sprinkles. I added a few drops of green food coloring and let the kids shake it up until it mixed completely. I put a small green palm tree inside for the kids to shake up and find.

2. Ribbon Bottles
I made two of these because the kids liked them so much and its so easy to do!. The one on the left just has water, a little lite corn syrup, and cut up bits of ribbon. The other bottle has just water, two pieces of thin ribbon, and a drop of red food coloring. If your kids like to shake more than watch it just flow, fill it almost to the top with water. If you want it to move a little slower, add more and more corn syrup until you get it to your liking.

3. Yellow Star Mini Bottle
This one is a favorite for kids because it uses the same idea as a calm-down or relaxation jar. I filled it with water, yellow glitter glue, small sea shells, yellow beads, small stars and moons, and a drop of yellow food coloring.

4. Where's the Ghost Mini Bottle
I filled this with clear crystal beads, a little bit of water and a small ghost for them to shake and find.

5. Find the Heart Mini Bottle
This one is just filled with small red beads and a small heart bead. It's pretty easy for the kids to find, it's actually harder to hide the heart because of the size difference between the two beads.

6. Confetti Mini Bottle
This mini jar is filled with small beads that remind the kids of confetti. There is a small sea shell inside for them to find. This could also be done by dying rice different colors.

7. Find the Dragonfly Mini Bottle
This mini bottle is filled with different metallic beads and a larger dragonfly key chain. This one is actually really hard for the kids to find, because usually the key chain gets stuck in the middle and they have to shake hard to mix it up.

8. Sea of Blue Mini Bottle
This bottle has a bunch of blue and silver objects. It's filled with water, blue glitter glue, and a couple drops of blue food coloring. There are beads, buttons, cut out shapes and more. For this one since the blue is so dark, the kids like holding it up to the light to try and spot objects easier. They also hold the bottle sideways because when the objects lean against the side they are easy to find.

9. I-Spy Bottle

Materials: Small water bottle, light corn syrup, fun items to fill the bottle.

Instructions: Fill 1/4 of the bottle with light corn syrup, add some items, repeat until there is about 1/4" space at the top. Use a glue gun to glue the lid on the bottle.

Comments: This works better if you find a mixture of items that sink and float in the corn syrup. Also leaving an air space at the top of the bottle is important. It will create a bubble that will move around when you turn the bottle, pushing all the items around. My kids love to play the I-Spy game with this bottle. One kiddo will pick an item and have their friend try to find it as well.

10. Snow Globe Sensory Jar

This one just has water, silver glitter and 3 small wintery erasers. Kids like having to shake it just the right way to get the polar bears to stand up on the side.
