Ocean Themed Sensory Bin

Materials used: water, food coloring, plastic coins, growing starfish, aqua beads, rocks, small bottle, netting.

I found all of the necessary materials at the dollar store. My favorite part of this bin would definitely have to be the water beads. I am not sure what they are actually called. (Some stores call them hydrating beads, but it depends on the store.) They are usually used to fill decorative vases. They are really fun to hold because they slip out of your hand and bounce.

Some of the rocks I bought came in a small netted bag. I figured this would be good addition to the bin that I didn't originally have planned. The kids really liked 'catching' things in the net. The starfish is found in the toy section because it grows when it gets wet. I put it in very shallow water so that the top was still hard and bumpy while the bottom was soft and slimy. Later on, I decided to add water to make it a little different. The water balls then seemed like bubbles. Add scoopers, spoons, whatever else you can think of. But trust me, the water balls are a great buy!
